Plain Jane Beauty Foundation Review

Finding the perfect foundation match is like finding the perfect mate. It takes a lot of trial and error until you find the one.  Since going au naturale in my beauty routine the biggest challenge has been finding a foundation shade that matches my skin tone without having to do a bunch of blending tricks.

Plain Jane Beauty is natural/organic cosmetics brand that promotes beauty in every color of the rainbow. Seriously even some traditional makeup brands don’t have a wide variety of shades. I first stumbled across this line from Instagram because I was looking for green beauty brands that cater to women of color. Enter Plain Jane Beauty!

Their cosmetics are organically based with essential oils and minerals to help heal skin rather than harm. What I love most is that I can apply this with confidence that I’m not rubbing junk on my skin that will eventually clog my pores. Their foundation comes in crème and powder formulations that are so light weight it actually feels like my skin. I like wearing makeup when I go out but I don’t want to feel as though I’m wearing makeup, especially something heavy.  Plus they offer 17 different shades!

Crème Minerals Liquid Foundation

Ingredients:  Aloe Vera Juice, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Roobios Extract, Titanium Dioxide, Organic Calendula Extract, Emulsifying Wax, Vitamin E, Iron Oxide, Organic Green Tea Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Isostearyl Isostearate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Cetyl Behenate, Behnic Acid, Mica, Zinc Oxide, Stearic Acid, Meadowfoam oil, Carrot oi, Rosemary Extract, Neem, Frankincense, Cistus, Lavender, Cedarwood, and Chamomile Essential oils.

Originally I ordered the sample pack which had all of the darker shades they offer. Unfortunately none of those seemed to be a match. My face is unique in that it’s more of a neutral in between. So typically foundations are either too red or too yellow for me. I contacted the owner Lake Louise and she was so sweet enough to suggest I try their newest shade #12. She thought based on my pictures that that would be the better option for me. Happily after trying as you can see this shade is a hit for my skin tone!

This foundation come in a small pump and the consistency is like a mouse. Coverage is light to medium so if you have imperfections that you want to cover you will have to use a concealer with this product. Plain Jane Beauty also sells concealers as well if you’re looking for that.

I’m so happy to have found a foundation I can wear regularly without comprising my health or skin.
